Logistics and Customs in Import/Export Business

In the last few years in India, numbers of people are increased who have interest in import/export business. Reason behind it, India is including in fast developing countries as well as Indian community is in every part of world. Also after Make In India campaign , Indian products have been booming in the world.

But why people afraid when they are talking about doing import/export business while it is as simple as doing business in India. Basically it is very easy but people need additional knowledge of customs and logistics.

International shipping is not complicated but it is just one step ahead of domestic shipping. One major change is between Domestic shipping and International shipping is documentation. In international shipping , need IEC code and AWB/BL in additional documents. Also it is totally automated because shipping is handled by forwarders. Importer or exporter do not have headache of shipping. However if you have big company and have more than 50 to 70 shipments per month then it can be more difficult. But if it can be handle with proper management then it's not rocket science.

Custom clearance process is also very easy process if people have proper knowledge. Any importer/exporter have to know about rules and have required certificate for export/import any product. For import/export any products, rules and required certificates are different. It is depends on product wise and country wise. However , it is also very easily available on internet and also you can contact to CHA (Custom House Agent) for it.

This two aspects are basic and very important in Import/Export Business. However, It is not only shipping and customs but has lot of points which are very important such as, AWB/BL, LC, Buyer Credibility, Payment Terms, Incoterms, Invoice, Packing List, International sale, Exhibitions, Forex banking, AD code and many more.

We will discuss all above points in future blogs with very simple language.
